Abstract :

The purpose of this paper is to draw attention to the scale of the question of biopolitics in the anthropocene age and to question how reflection on artistic practices in contemporary aesthetics can contribute to the debate. New narratives can provide a useful means to counterbalance the biopolitical processes of immunization (immunitas) of life in order to favour a rethink of the notion of community (communitas) as it is used by Roberto Esposito. These new ways of fictionalising reality extend our conception of community and might help us to improve our ability to be hospitable to life and help us to respond to the ecological realities we are currently dealing with.
